Any religious, devotional, or peaceful instrumental music applies). Avoid loud places and loud company.

Yoga Classes
It is important to maintain a steady practice during your Yoga teacher intensive.  In order to create new and healthier samskaras (habits/tendencies), at least 5 yoga classes should be attended each week for 10 weeks.

Seminars
There are six weekend seminars during the intensive.  Each seminar is a separate module independent of any other.  Students should preregister for workshops.  Any missed workshops may be taken at a later date for an additional registration fee.

Satsang/Kirtan
Attendance at weekend Satsang and Kirtan are required each Sunday evening from 7:00pm-9:00pm during the training.  We will practice meditation, followed by Kirtan (devotional chanting and singing) and Satsang which will include Yoga Philosophy (The Bhagavad Gita, Pantanjali Yoga Sutras, and Discourses from Swami Sivananda)

Karma Yoga

Karma Service is required during your yoga intensive.  1 ½ hours each week for 10 weeks of selfless service is required.  Assignments should be approved ahead of time. If you should have difficulty in obtaining a service position, we help you with placement in the community.

Anatomy & Physiology
We have 10 hours of yoga anatomy and physiology. These hours will be completed during the seminar weekends in addition to independent study assignments.

The only written exam is the final examination.  This will be offered after all workshops have been completed and dates will be announced.   This exam is in essay form and is comprehensive. The material will cover all lectures, workshops, and required reading.   It is highly suggested that the student does not wait until the end of the course to study for this exam. Review and regular studying should be done from the very beginning of the course.

Internship

After completion of 10 week intensive and coursework, or at the discretion of the school, each student will complete 12 hours of internship.  This will be 1 class a week for 8 weeks, according to your schedule.

Clothing

Intensive students requested to wear traditional Sivananda colors of yellow T-shirts and long white pants. Clothing should be modest and loose fitting.  The uniform is required at all yoga classes, workshops and satsangs.
